The first trailer for HBO’s upcoming horror-scifi series, “Lovecraft Country”, has dropped — and it delivers on all fronts.

A lot is riding on the series, being among the few ‘flagship’ titles the network will air this year. This, and its high-caliber names attached in front of and behind the scenes.

The series is exec-produced by Jordan Peele (“Us”) and J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”), with Misha Green (“Underground”) showrunning with Peele. The series stars Jonathan Majors (“The Last Black Man in San Francisco”), Michael K. Williams (“The Wire”), and Jurnee Smollett-Bell (“Birds of Prey”), among others.

Based on the same-name 2016 novel from Matt Ruff, the series follows a young African-American as he travels across the U.S. in the 1950s in search of his missing father. His search leads him to the eponymous town where, unsurprisingly, things take a strange, spooky turn.
